I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before going, because it would have put me off... and I think the hotel must have had a serious makeover since most of the reviews, because my room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The bathroom was much larger than most London hotel rooms and very nice. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet (possibly because we had a room facing an internal courtyard) so we both got a good night's sleep. I also used the pool which felt a bit old and dated, and not entirely clean with various plasters that had been fished out and left on the edge, but it was warm and empty so I was able to have a good swim. The shower (singular) in the ladies changing room is phenomenally complicated and just standard body wash (no shampoo/conditioner) so I had to re-shower back in the room. Other positives: - the breakfast was LOVELY, plenty of choice, all fresh, nice coffee - the bar and lobby area is quirky with remnants of the building's historical fittings, including cells you can sit in and enjoy your drinks, complete with toilets (don't use them!) - having emailed the hotel when I booked the room, I was very happy to see they'd fulfilled my request for a room near the lifts. Thank you for that! - hotel is brilliantly situated opposite Liberty London, a short walk from Oxford Circus tube. Very handy for shops. - the towels in the pool area are huge and so nice that I actually found the website and bought some (ended up buying six which was a bit excessive but they got cheaper the more you buy!) Now for the negatives: - It's not clear where everything is (breakfast, the cinema, the lifts, the pool area) and nobody seems bothered about telling you - the staff generally were a bit grumpy and could have absolutely MADE this into a 5* experience by just being a bit nicer - the erroneous apostrophe in the Drinks Menu (call me a pedant) - there is no in-room information, and the TV doesn't have an information page either. I had to phone reception to find out what time breakfast was served. - the check-out time is 11am, breakfast is served until 10am and the pool only opens at 10am. So no hope at all of a pre-breakfast swim. The negatives are quite minor ones, to be fair, and I did really enjoy my stay. I think this will be my new favourite when staying overnight in London.

Went for afternoon tea in the Soho Wala restaurant in The Courthouse Hotel. Had a great time here. Tea, sandwiches, cakes and champagne were delicious... But it was the staff who made this good afternoon into a great afternoon.... Many thanks to Aparna, Gurpreet and Clive.... Really enjoyed ourselves and thank you for enhancing the occasion with your smiles and conversation.

Had a beautiful afternoon tea for my mums birthday. Ramadan the waiter, has been so lovely and welcoming to us! Service with a smile for sure and very personal with a surprise birthday cake for my mum. Thank you Ramadan for making my mums birthday special. Lovely food and scones were perfect!

I took my best friend to the CH for a Afternoon Tea treat. Our experience on 13th April was so lovely. The staff/ atmosphere was very welcoming and where we were placed to sit by our waiter Ramadan was perfect. Ramadan looked after my friend and I very well. He was attentive and offered to take our pictures with our Champagne and then when our AT selection arrived, so that we have a lovely memory of the occasion. Our sandwiches were fresh and tasty. The scones warm and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. There was a generous helping of jam and clotted cream and the selections of cakes and pastry were delicious. We would definitely come back here again to celebrate our friendship.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The waiter looked after us very well, especially my ten year old niece, saying that she could have any drinks that she wanted. She was very happy with an apple juice and a hot chocolate! The sandwiches and cakes were all very tasty. We couldn't eat them all, so the staff happily boxed the leftovers up for us. We would highly recommend this afternoon tea. It is also in a great location, with Liberty and Hamley's nearby for some shopping afterwards!
